We drove for an hour and finally got to experience what all the buzz is about at this restaurant! The food was amazing—the two of us shared the tomahawk steak, and it was absolutely finger-licking good; I’ve never had one that good before! The wines were excellent and paired perfectly with the meat! The appetizers were also truly delicious! It’s a bit pricey, but you get double the value for your money.
We’ll definitely be back!
We drove for an hour and finally got to experience what all the fuss is about at this restaurant! The food was delicious; the two of us shared the tomahawk steak and it was absolutely finger-licking good, I’ve never had one quite like it! The wines were excellent and paired perfectly with the meat! The starters were absolutely delicious too! It’s a bit pricey, but you get your money’s worth and then some.
We’ll definitely be back!
Last week we went to Lu & Na for a wine tasting evening. The evening consisted of a three-course menu featuring steak tartare, picanha and tiramisu. Everything was superbly prepared and clearly made with care.
The only minor point is that with a set menu like this, you can’t switch to a different dish if something isn’t quite to your taste. That makes sense, of course, for a tasting evening, but it’s good to know.
The value for money was excellent! Four wines were included, and these were even topped up nicely between courses.
The restaurant is also very welcoming. Lovely staff and a friendly owner, which made the evening even more enjoyable.
We’ll definitely be back here to eat à la carte!
Just a good cut of meat, cooked to perfection (on the barbecue). The owner’s happy to have a chat and explain the meat.
It’s a bit pricier, but come on, you’re getting a proper cut of meat in return. No faffing about with sauces and spice mixes. Just salt and pepper, nothing else.
We went for a meal together again after three years. Here, you can only order deliciously tender Wagyu and Black Angus meat dishes, straight from the grill. So you do need to be a meat-eater if you want to eat here. With most dishes, you can choose from different portion sizes. We had a delicious carpaccio and grilled prawns as a starter and ordered a classic sharing menu: Wagyu A5+ with flank steak and Black Angus rib eye. We paired this with a glass of white wine to start and a lovely glass of red wine with the main course.
You can also order a dessert; there were three options, and I chose a Napoleon: puff pastry with cream.
All in all, we had another lovely meal here.
For the average budget, it’s not a restaurant where you’d go for a meal every month, but meat lovers will certainly be coming back here more often.
What an unexpected discovery! We drove towards Kelpen-Oler and ended up at a farm-like venue. At first I thought: “Will this be any good?”. But what followed was phenomenal.
We were welcomed by the owner, a man with a great sense of humour and a wealth of knowledge. When he heard that I’d taken the WSET Level 2 and knew some of the tutors, he immediately joked: “Hey, this isn’t an exam for me, is it?”. That light-hearted atmosphere immediately set the tone for a fantastic evening.
For starters, we enjoyed a sublime combination of wagyu and burrata. Melt-in-the-mouth meat and creamy burrata, perfectly balanced. The main course: ribeye, cooked medium, accompanied by crispy potatoes, fresh asparagus and a brioche with tapenade that tasted truly homemade. Everything was fresh and perfectly prepared.
The wine, sourced from Armenia, where the owner himself comes from, was a wonderful surprise and paired perfectly with the dishes.
In short: an evening full of flavour, hospitality and humour. You don’t just come here for the food, but also for the experience. Highly recommended for anyone who loves quality and a personal touch!
A while ago, we went for dinner at Lu & Na Woodstone Barbecue in Kelpen. And... we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!
After being welcomed by Arman, who made us feel right at home in their beautifully decorated and cosy restaurant, we were shown to our table for a fantastic evening.
As an aperitif, we were served a slice of truly delicious tuna topped with a roasted almond. We knew right then that we were in for an evening we would remember for a long time to come.
For starters, we ordered three portions of carpaccio, tropical prawns and vegetarian tartare. What arrived at the table tasted just as good as it looked. I had the carpaccio myself, and I’ve tasted plenty of it before, but this was truly on a whole other level.
For the main courses, we had one picanha, one bluefin tuna, one Bresse chicken thigh, and for two of us, a BBQ sharing platter with bistecca alla Fiorentina, entrecôte, and ribeye.
All Australian Black Angus, grain-fed for 200 days by John Dee.
Whether it was the picanha, the chicken, the tuna or the meat on the BBQ platter, it was all absolutely fantastic. In particular, having the BBQ platter carved and seasoned at the table is a unique experience.
We were also treated to a slice of Grade 5a Wagyu beef on the house. It was unbelievable how good it tasted. You simply have to try this at least once.
For dessert, we had four portions of tiramisu. Delicious espresso, and we haven’t even mentioned the drinks yet.
Truly delicious Armenian wine, Plantation XO rum and Ararat XO brandy rounded off the evening perfectly, as did the speciality beers.
We’d like to thank Arman and his wife Anahit, as well as Karin, for a magnificent experience. We spent just over five hours there in a lovely atmosphere. Everything was just right here; they work with a lot of love and passion for food.
Do we recommend this restaurant...
Yes, absolutely! You certainly won’t regret eating here!
A wonderful atmosphere with unique and, above all, absolutely delicious meat from the barbecue.
Dining here in the evening is a special experience. Highly recommended. Definitely worth a return visit. The quality of the meat is well worth the price.
Went for a meal with a group at Kelpen Oler’s Salt Bae. A stunning location at the end of the world. YES, it’s a bit pricey, but YES, they do deliver. The meat was unbelievably tasty, as were the side dishes. Hats off to a restaurant that refuses to serve chips and mayo on the side, something that’s actually completely unnecessary given how much flavour there was in everything.
So why not 5 stars then? We are Dutch, after all, so there’s always something to moan about :-) . I had the prawns as a starter and was served a sort of tartare. Found it a bit too oily. Otherwise, the staff were super friendly but could do with more uniformity in their attire, plus there didn’t seem to be a logical division of who did what at times.
All in all, a top little restaurant in Kelpen-Oler that I can recommend to anyone for a tasty steak.
To celebrate our ‘10th anniversary’, my girlfriend and I were planning to go away for a week. We were just about to set off when we received a call from the owner of our cabin in the Ardennes, informing us that the pipes had frozen and burst due to the freezing cold. So, unfortunately, our trip was cancelled… That was obviously a real bummer.
We didn’t want to give up, so we decided to ask Lu+Na if we could move our booking to that evening. Luckily, they could accommodate us – and what a brilliant decision that was.
Arman and his team really looked after us all evening. Excellent, friendly service with a personal touch. But the food itself was just as sublime. Everything is cooked on a large wood-fired barbecue right in the middle of the restaurant.
We opted for ‘Signature & Sharing – Platinum’, a platter featuring tomahawk steak, fillet of beef and Wagyu A5+ (because at Lu+Na they serve only the finest quality meat ;)) with grilled vegetables, potatoes and Armenian flatbread with chimichurri. The meat practically melted in your mouth and everything tasted absolutely delicious. Phenomenal!
As a beer brewer, I spend my days creating and combining flavours, but also working on food and drink pairings. Arman made excellent wine suggestions to accompany the meal; I was truly impressed by these pairings.
To cut a long story short:
The Lu+Na concept has been thought through down to the last detail and works perfectly. Hats off to them!
I’d recommend everyone to go and have dinner here at least once, it’s a fantastic experience!
Truly authentic food without any fuss!!
A lovely place where the owner and hostess welcome you with warmth and enthusiasm; you can feel their passion the moment you walk in, and the aromas wafting from the open kitchen will have your mouth watering straight away!
Knowledgeable and friendly service.
We had a truly fantastic meal and enjoyed the delicious Armenian wine; I loved getting to know this wonderful wine-producing country!
It’s not cheap, but given the high quality and freshness of the produce, it’s worth every penny! We’ll be back soon (and hopefully my dining companion won’t be ill 😉). Thank you for your passion and enthusiasm!!
Our first visit, and certainly not our last! What a warm welcome, a lovely atmosphere, and the meat is absolutely delicious!!
Highly recommended from Zeeuws-Vlaanderen🤩👍🏻
After a day at Spa-Francorchamps, we decided to look for a steakhouse on the way back. Lu & Na was on our route, and they could accommodate the five of us that very day. We received a warm welcome and were asked to leave our coats and caps in the cloakroom.
We had the tartare as a starter – absolutely incredible. And for the main course, four of us shared the ‘IMPERIAL’. We’ve never eaten such delicious meat; it’s a bit pricey, but you certainly get what you pay for. Truly delicious! More than enough to send us home feeling satisfied. A solid 10 out of 10!
PS: we’ll definitely be back (all the way from Enschede!)
This restaurant specialises in premium cuts of meat, prepared without any unnecessary frills. They also serve a selection of fine wines and whiskies. What’s more, the owners are very friendly and welcoming people.
We had the Wagyu, steak tartare, mojama tuna and Tomahawk steak. Several delicious wines and Japanese whisky. As we were leaving, the host offered us an Armenian whisky on the house.
We had a lovely meal. A great atmosphere and ambience, where you can literally and figuratively take a peek behind the scenes. All dishes are cooked over an open fire. The staff are very friendly and the service is quick.
The food itself was fantastic, meat for connoisseurs. We had delicious Wagyu, fillet of beef and tomahawk steak. Prices are on the high side, but certainly justified for what you get.
All in all, highly recommended.
